Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation

Alcohol dot org

American Addiction Centers

The Alcohol Awareness Council is dedicated to informing the public about the use and abuse of alcohol. You will find the latest alcohol research, studies and statistical data, brought to you by government agencies, academic institutions, news sources and awareness organizations. You will also find a wealth of alcohol-related resources, support groups, and help lines for those struggling with alcoholism.  If you or someone you care about has a problem with alcohol or drug addiction, you should seek help immediately.

Alcohol.org is developed and maintained by Recovery Brands, LLC, a subsidiary of American Addiction Centers, Inc. (“AAC”). AAC is a leading provider of both residential and outpatient addiction treatment services. For more information about Alcohol.org’s affiliation with AAC, please see below under “How Our Helpline Works.”

For those seeking addiction treatment for themselves or a loved one, the Alcohol.org helpline is a private and convenient solution. We are standing by 24/7 to discuss your treatment options. Our advisors work solely for AAC and will discuss with you whether an AAC facility may be an option for you. To view a list of residential treatment centers operated by AAC, visit americanaddictioncenters.org/treatment-centers.

Instead, we work to provide free resources to help people better understand their addiction and motivate them to make the first step in seeking support. Alcohol Rehab Help is owned and funded by Treatment Pathway LLC, an informational marketing company that specializes in producing authoritative medical content based on addiction literature, accredited scientific journals, and current research in the field.

While the LGBTQ+ community has a higher incidence of substance use than heterosexuals, they also tend to seek treatment at a significantly higher rate, according to a 2012 University of Michigan study. Because of the LGBTQ+ community’s willingness to seek help, treatment providers should equip themselves with the necessary tools to address the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ people.

Members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community have rates of substance abuse higher than those of the general population. Their daily battles with discrimination and stigma cause high levels of stress that may push them toward drug and alcohol use. Substance use disorders affect 20 to 30 percent of the LGBTQ+ population, compared to 8.4 percent of the general population, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. These alarming numbers stress a need for more substance use recovery programs that cater to LGBTQ+ individuals.

Recovery Village Ridgefield Rehab

The Recovery Village – Ridgefield

No one is immune to substance use disorder. It can strike anyone at any time, regardless of age, gender, nationality, ethnicity, class or sexual orientation. However, some groups are more at risk to fall victim to drug and/or alcohol addiction than others. Unfortunately, this is true for the LGBTQ community. This is mainly because of the mental health disorders that develop in this community as a result of abuse, discrimination, rejection and ostracism that they undergo. The good news, however, is that many resources are available to help members of this community conquer substance abuse.

For individuals who are a part of the LGBTQ community, it’s important that they find LGBTQ friendly treatment in a drug or alcohol rehab center. Not only do they need assistance from addiction specialists as all patients do, but they also need experts that will understand their specific personal, psychological and personal challenges.

At The Recovery Village Ridgefield, we understand the unique situation that members of the LGBTQ community are going through when they are seeking substance abuse treatment. We have specially trained addiction professionals who understand how to treat LGBTQ individuals. Upon admission, you will undergo assessment and evaluation so that an addiction specialist can formulate an individualized treatment plan for you.
